Aprils Fool Real Story

A few years ago I was team leader telecom management of the Heineken Brewery in the Netherlands, but also a member of the editors of the weekly so called “Brewery News.” There were complains about the fact that managers, team leaders and specialists had to use the cell phones and cordless phones for internal at the same time. In the week before the first of April I placed an article in Brewery News that I had the solution with a universal headset. Both phones could be attached and used at the same time without disconnecting. And the most important message was that they were for free to get at the desk of the administration facility services. I just called the name of the day and not April the first. I can tell you that was the busiest day the employees had for years. You had seen those faces when everybody got a rubber band like the post office use for envelopes and packetes. I gave them a demonstration how to use them. I took the rubber band over my head and ears and put the cell on one site and the cordless on the other site over my ears and said: “You see, hands free and you can use both at the same time.” The next week there was an article with photo of the disappointed employees and it took for several people more than one week before they said hello to me.
