Bad company
A salesman gets caught in a brutal rainstorm out in the countryside. His car stalls, so he trudges up to the nearest farmhouse and knocks on the door.
The farmer answers, rubs his eyes, and says, "Look, it’s late and my wife and I are already in bed. But you’re welcome to sleep out in the barn with the pig and the cow." The salesman gratefully accepts, spends the night, and goes on his way the next morning.
A few months later, a shady lawyer gets caught in a torrential downpour in the exact same spot. He runs up to the same farmhouse, knocks frantically, and asks for shelter.
The farmer opens the door and says, "We're all turned in for the night, but you can go sleep out in the barn with the pig and the cow."
The lawyer thanks him and runs out to the barn.
Five minutes later, there’s another loud, frantic knocking on the front door. The farmer climbs out of bed, goes downstairs, and opens the door.
Standing on the porch are the pig and the cow.
